Do you use a pen or a water-based pen to practice calligraphy?

It depends on the foundation. If it is the entry stage, it is recommended to use a slightly elastic pen, that is, a pen with a wide head. Don't use art pens or ultra-fine pens. If the artistic pen is not used well, there will be more blocks and thinner strokes. Too thin or too sharp forehead strokes are difficult to control and press, and hard ones are not conducive to learning "calligraphy". Ordinary "writing" doesn't matter

If you have a certain foundation, you can try a gel pen and write all kinds of fonts. Various brushstrokes can also be written. Especially in winter, you can avoid the trouble of pen blocking water.

As for the "hidden front, middle front, side front, back front and hook front" mentioned above, don't pay attention to him. There is no "hook front" in calligraphy, and writing hard words does not require so many tricks. Remember to hide your pen and put it away.

By the way, if you are writing regular script, especially small script in Wei and Jin Dynasties, it is recommended to use gel pen or ballpoint pen, especially Parker's ballpoint pen, which can handle the rhythm well. There is also a calligraphy pen (not an art pen) with a small curvature on the market, which is also very good. You can try it when you see it, and it's cheap.
