Development History

1959: The Origin of Jiading Museum

The Jiading Museum was established in 1959 and was initially located in the original Qin Family Garden on South Street. In July 1961, it moved into the Jiading Confucius Temple located on South Street. In October 1962, the Jiading County Museum, Cultural Center, and Library merged, and the museum became the "Three Cultural Museums" Cultural Relics Group. Displays (exhibitions) such as "Natural Environment and Resources of Jiading" and "History and Current Situation of Jiading" have been held. During the Cultural Revolution, displays (exhibitions) focused on "class education" and "learning from Dazhai in agriculture". In May 1978, the museum resumed its independent organization.

Expansion and development of Jiading Museum

As of 2012, it has successively held "Jiading Ancient History Exhibition", "Imperial Examination Cultural Relics Exhibition", "Jiading Bamboo Carving Art", and "Gu Weijun's Life Exhibition" , "Hu Juewen's Life Story Exhibition" and more than 170 displays (exhibitions). During this period, based on the museum's long-term accumulation of imperial examination cultural relics, in February 2006, the Shanghai Chinese Imperial Examination Museum was successfully renovated in the Jiading Confucius Temple, becoming the first thematic museum in China to display the ancient Chinese imperial examination system; in December 2007, the Jiading Museum was built. After decades of development, the Jiading Museum now has more than 10,000 pieces (sets) of ancient bronzes, ceramics, calligraphy, paintings, jades, study utensils, currency, bamboo and wood horns, and modern historical documents. Among them, the Shang Dynasty animal-face pattern jue, the Ming and Chen Chun calligraphy and painting scrolls, and the Ming three-pine type open-carved bamboo pen holders are particularly valuable.

2013: A new starting point for Jiading Museum

According to the development status and requirements of modern museums, and facing the urgent need for further development, the construction of the new Jiading Museum started in 2010. It was completed and opened to the public in June. The new Jiading Museum is located in the central area of ??Jiading Town. It adopts a double-garden two-story (some three-story) layout design and is divided into two parts: newly built modern functions and traditional gardens. The modern part includes office buildings, warehouses, showrooms, shops, etc. In the traditional garden part, the Qiuxia Garden, which is separated by a wall and has a history of more than 500 years, is opened up to form a circuitous flow line. The two achieve the effect of being you and me, and integrating seamlessly.

In 2007, Jiading Museum's "Imperial Examination Exhibition" won the 7th (2005-2006) National Museum Top Ten Exhibition Exhibitions Award issued by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage; in 2011, Jiading Museum was rated as the National It is a second-level museum; in 2012, it was rated as Shanghai Patriotism Education Base.
