Significance of Meng Monument

This tablet is an important historical material to study the cultural origin relationship between Yunnan and the Central Plains in Han Dynasty. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, "South China prospered" not only accepted the influence of the production technology of the Central Plains economically, but also admired and was deeply influenced by the Central Plains culture. If there is a saying on the tablet that Confucius is a great sage, he is still trapped in the world, it can be seen that people respect Confucius and feel what he has done. From the evidence of many Chinese-style artifacts excavated by archaeologists in Zhaotong area, we can know that Chinese culture was quite popular in Yunnan at that time.

"Meng Xiaoju Monument" has a high position in the history of calligraphy. 19 15 years, Luo Zhenyu, a master of epigraphy, copied it with double hooks, and the full text was published in the Ink Shadow of Stone Carvings in Han and Jin Dynasties, calling it "the treasure of domestic numbers". This tablet is not only famous in China, but also included in the Complete Works of Calligraphy and Taoism published in the second year of Showa, Japan (AD 1927), which was highly praised by Japanese book circles.
