Can calligraphy make a living?
It's ok to make a living, but it costs a lot in the early stage. Don't talk about practicing calligraphy. First of all, you have to make everyone think that your handwriting is good. At least you are the one who runs the calligraphy training class. The second one is at least a member of the local book association. This minimum requirement seems to be to attend the local calligraphy exhibition, participate in the exhibition, and give gifts to the leaders of the book association. Usually, people who have contacts with the book association will be dealt with. When you have completed the above two conditions, it is almost the same. Next, I'll give you some information here for your reference. My monthly salary in the service industry here is about 1500 (I am a small county town), and the teacher goes to the calligraphy training class for 50 yuan a day, which only takes half a day. I am famous for writing a pair of heart sutras in 200 yuan's fine print, and the teacher wrote about 100 yuan. Finally, let me tell you one thing. Some Taoist temples ask people to write scriptures and then sell them. It is no problem to make a living with these positions. Some bosses will buy a scripture when they go to the temple Taoist temple. It would be better if they could draw idols for them. As for couplets, it's really hard to say. Although handwritten couplets are becoming more and more popular now, there are many people who write them, and they may not be able to sell a few pairs a day. That's all. In short, I personally don't support calligraphy for a living.
