China's calligraphy art is extensive and profound, and its artistic charm is unparalleled in the world. Especially with the visibility of writing performance, the giant characters on the list will let people directly watch the writing process with brush strokes, and then show the artistic charm of China's calligraphy, giving people a visual impact and shock. I was invited to write huge couplets with a length of 10 meter and a width of 1.6 meter at the opening ceremony of the first Qilu Art Expo in Shandong, the first Ningbo Art Expo in Zhejiang, Yantai International Wine and National Food Expo and various large-scale celebrations. I wrote 6 square meters on rice paper and 12 square meters on the interlining, which gave people a brand-new visual experience and aroused great interest.

Don't confuse calligraphy giant characters with giant characters. Someone wrote hundreds of square meters of giant words. Of course, this giant character is also a form of expression of Chinese characters. Writing this giant character requires special skills, methods and techniques, but it does not belong to the definition of calligraphy. This is because the statutes of calligraphy require that strokes cannot be repeated. The minimum requirement for writing giant characters is to write them all at once. Imagine a giant character of several hundred square meters, and it is impossible to get it in place in one stroke, because without such a giant pen, even if there is such a giant pen, it will be a problem to take it, let alone a turning point.

How to write giant words? According to the author's practice, seven methods of writing giant characters are summarized.

First, writing: a giant pen with a nib diameter of 20 cm can only write strokes with a thickness of 30 cm at most. Such a thick stroke can only display 10 square meters at most, and it must also be a word with more strokes. It is such a pen that it is not easy to operate and transport. Many people write with this kind of pen, mostly holding the pen with both hands. I write with one hand, so I can write flexibly and accurately. Because the pen is held in one hand, the length of the pen holder is generally about one meter, and the diameter of the handle of the pen holder can be about three centimeters. Giant pens use horse hair as pens, because their pens are very long, with a nib diameter of 20 cm and a length of more than 50 cm. The elasticity of the pen tip is extremely poor, and the pressing effect is not obvious.

Second, the brushwork: 1, the center stroke. The tip of the giant pen falls on the paper, forming great friction. After being soaked by ink, the strength of rice paper is extremely low and it is easy to be scratched. Therefore, the pen should be carried by the center, so that the ink can directly reach the paper along the front end of the pen, which correspondingly reduces the friction between the pen and the paper and enables the pen to smoothly pass through the paper, thus completing the writing process of the giant character unit. However, with the lateral front or oblique front, the hair clings to the paper, forming mutual adsorption between the hair and the paper, increasing the friction between them and easily tearing the paper. 2, suitable for pre-adjustment. In the process of writing, the thickness of strokes is accomplished by lifting strokes. If the width of the front of the brush is adjusted by adjusting the front of the stroke intersection, it is easy to cut the paper. Therefore, when the strokes need to be bold, the front of the brush should be adjusted to the same width as the strokes at one time in the corresponding blank space to complete the writing of rough strokes. Some words must be adjusted at the intersection of strokes, such as the vertical hook of the word' Yu' and the previous stroke. At the intersection of two strokes, the brushwork of flying white in the middle can be appropriately adopted to reduce the loss of paper strength at the intersection and facilitate the adjustment of the following strokes. The method of flying white in the middle is limited to horizontal stroke, vertical stroke or oblique stroke is not suitable. For the strokes of giant characters, there are generally certain strokes. When writing, speeding up the stroke speed can achieve the goal of flying white.

Third, font method: the shelf structure of giant characters is very important. It requires the uterus to converge, to stretch, to have a standardized flow, to have a body shape, and to have self-change.

1, macro-control. Emphasize the impression before writing. Just before you start writing, you must have an impression of the shape of the giant characters you want to write. That is, before writing, the structure and shape of this giant word seem to appear on the paper. Emphasize the first position. The size of a giant word has been determined, so the first stroke of the word is a point, how big it needs, and how to determine the location of the box address; The first stroke is apostrophe, where to start the stroke, inclination, length, thickness and so on. The positioning of the first stroke directly affects the overall structure of the giant character.

2. Grasp the center of gravity. If locating the first stroke is the key to the suffix, then grasping the center of gravity is the root of the suffix. In the process of writing, it is difficult to get the pen in place because of vision and posture. Therefore, we should grasp the center of gravity, which is the root of the word, and adjust the shapes of some strokes to achieve balance and stability, so as to achieve the effect of seeking good fortune and avoiding evil.

3, clear the relationship between strokes, so that strokes echo, look at every word left and right. Minimize hairspring so that the pen can be broken. For example, when the author was writing a huge couplet to welcome the return of Hong Kong, he wrote the vertical hook of "Si" as an upper hook and a lower hook, while ignoring the word "Hui" below. If the word' four' below is the hook of the next front, it will expect the word' Hui' below.

4. The broken cube is a circle. The writing of giant characters is mainly centered on the round pen, the broken square is round, and the round pen is often used at the turning point to make the corners round and natural. In this way, the giant characters can not only make the lines concise, the strokes vigorous and vigorous, but also increase the friction in the process of stroke turning because the strokes are smooth and smooth, so that the rice paper will not be broken.

Fourth, the ink method. 1, thin ink. Ink written in giant characters should be diluted with water to reduce the viscosity of the ink. 2. full of pens. Full ink makes the ink smoothly injected into the paper surface, which plays the role of lubrication between the nib and the paper surface, makes the pen naturally smooth and round, and prevents the paper surface from breaking. After the giant pen is dipped in ink, the bristles absorb each other and stick together, so it is difficult to achieve the effect of lifting. However, there is enough ink in a full pen, which correspondingly weakens the mutual adsorption of bristles and is beneficial to the nib. 3, anti-flooding, which is the key to the success or failure of giant character writing. The structure of giant characters is compact, the blank is small, and the ink is thin and full, so the ink is the biggest problem in the writing process of giant characters. Mainly do the following three things: write lightly to prevent ink from infiltrating into the felt. Take the pen quickly. This can reduce the amount of ink injected. Dip in ink quickly Choose rice paper with strong water absorption as absorbent paper and dip it in it. On the premise of not hindering the use of the pen, write while sucking, replace the absorbent paper in time, and soak the ink completely. 4, anti-ink. The giant pen is full of ink. When it is lifted, the ink flows like a piece of paper, which is easy to drop ink stains and pollute the paper. When writing giant characters, ink is usually put in a bucket. In order to prevent ink stain pollution and keep the paper clean, my practice is to lift Mo Dou to the place where the giant words fall, grab the edge of the bucket with my left hand, tilt it to a certain angle, and then slowly lift the pen out of the bucket with my right hand. As soon as the pen leaves the barrel edge, it is necessary to quickly put down the pen where the ink drops on the paper and write immediately. When collecting the pen, the ink stains will still flow when the giant pen stops. Put the pen in the bucket immediately. In the process of writing, be careful not to lift the pen at will to prevent the ink from being thrown out.

5. Footwork: To write giant characters, you need to walk on paper and hold a pen. You should choose a flat and soft carpet instead of a carpet, and wear flat-bottomed soft sponge shoes. In order to prevent rice paper from being trampled. When writing, adopt the method of shifting the center of gravity. For example, when writing a horizontal stroke, stand horizontally and shoulder-width, and focus on your left leg. When the pen runs from left to right to the middle of the stride, the body center of gravity moves to the right leg, and the left foot moves forward smoothly to stand in front of the right foot. At this time, the center of gravity shifts to the left leg, and the right leg moves horizontally to complete the writing of strokes. When writing vertical strokes, the left leg is in front, the right leg is behind, and the center of gravity is on the left leg. When the pen runs from front to back to the left leg, the center of gravity moves to the right leg, and the running of the essay on the left leg stops smoothly. At this point, the center of gravity is placed on the left leg again, and the article running on the right leg takes a step back smoothly, thus completing the vertical pen writing. In the exchange of center of gravity and the movement of legs, the emphasis is on stability and order, non-stop movement and uniform speed. Coordinated movements, in one go.

6. Practice: Usually practice giant characters. You can practice brushwork, Chinese characters and footwork on the smooth cement floor with water as ink. Because the cement floor is generally rough and easy to wear, it is best to practice on the dark marble floor. After mastering the three methods, we should focus on practicing. You can't write giant words without skill. Practice the three methods to a certain extent, then practice the ink method. Practice ink painting must be practiced on rice paper. Practice in strokes, and then master the skills and experience of using ink. The rule and experience of raising a pen on paper. Check the coordination between walking and writing on paper. Then practice the giant words on the paper as a whole.

Seven, test methods: because of practicing calligraphy, only by constantly comparing, comparing, testing, scoring and judging your own works can you see the shortcomings and deficiencies. Change in practice and improve in reform. However, it is not an easy task for giant character practice. Therefore, we should also master the inspection method of giant characters. There are two tests for giant characters. Hang it up first, and look at it from a distance, so that the distance is far away, the angle of view will be narrowed accordingly, and the posture of the giant figure will be clear at a glance. This is convenient for comparison and inspection; The second is to take photos and look carefully, which is convenient for consultation, judgment, approval and guidance.

To write giant characters, you should not only know how to write, but also know how to write, the bigger the better, and have the artistic connotation of calligraphy. For giant figures, it is more important to embody their artistic charm. The requirements are simple and elegant words, vigorous and steady form, delicate and graceful artistic charm and great momentum. At first glance, it will have visual impact and artistic shock, which is called' enjoyable'.
