Compendium of Materia Medica is the crystallization of Li Shizhen (15 18- 1593). There are 52 volumes, including 1892 drugs, including 374 new drugs, and 165438 prescriptions were collected.
Li Shizhen is a great medical scientist, who is deeply respected by later generations. His biographies are mostly found in Ming History and Bai Mao Tang Ji. During Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty, Li Shizhen's tomb was commemorated by a monument. After liberation, Li Shizhen Memorial Hall was established in Zhulinhu Village, qi zhou Town, Qichun County, Hubei Province, where Li Shizhen's tomb is located. The whole memorial hall covers an area of 50,000 square meters and consists of five parts: Baicao stele gallery, memorial exhibition, medical museum, Baicao Garden and cemetery. Deng Xiaoping wrote the name of the museum in his own handwriting on July 8th, 1987. 1956, scientist Guo Moruo wrote an inscription as a memorial: "The sage of traditional Chinese medicine is a masterpiece of China's pharmacy, and Compendium of Materia Medica is a description of 1892 drugs, which took 30 years to refine. Benefit the people and make many people live longer! The great master will be with the life of the nation. "
