Since I was a child, I have been deeply rooted in the grass, but now I gradually feel the Artemisia scoparia. Those who did not recognize the trees that could soar into the sky, until it entered into the sky, and people said it was high. Translation and Notes of Komatsu
When pine trees were young, they grew in deep grass, but they were not visible when they were buried. Until now, they were found to be much higher than those weeds (Artemisia scoparia). Those people didn't know the tree that could soar into the sky at that time, and people didn't say it was tall until it soared into the sky.
note 1 prickly head: refers to a small pine tree covered with pine needles. 2 penghāo: two kinds of weeds. 3 wait until: wait until. Lingyun: towering into the clouds. 5 the beginning: just say. Appreciation of Komatsu
Komatsu is full of allegory and profound meaning.
Song is a hero and warrior in the trees. In the cold weather, paraquat withers and thousands of trees wither, but it is green and lingyun, against the wind and snow, and poised. However, Lingyun Giant Pine grew up from the newly unearthed Komatsu. Although Komatsu is small, it has already shown the signs of "Lingyun". The first two sentences of Komatsu vividly depict this feature.
"Since childhood, I have been stuck in the deep grass"-Komatsu has just been unearthed, and it is really pitifully small. The weeds on the roadside are taller than it, so that it is buried in the deep grass. But although it is small but not weak, surrounded by "deep grass", it does not bow its head, but is a "thorn head"-the head covered with pine needles is straight and hard, and it sprints upward and is unstoppable. Those fragile grasses can't match it. The "thorn" of the "thorn" is a thousand words, which not only accurately outlines the characteristics of Komatsu's appearance, but also vividly outlines Komatsu's indomitable character and brave fighting spirit. The word "thorn" shows that Komatsu has strong vitality; Its "smallness" is only temporary and relative. As time goes on, it will inevitably change from small to large. Isn't it? -
"Now I'm gradually aware of Artemisia scoparia. "Artemisia scoparia, that is, Erigeron scoparia and Artemisia scoparia, grows taller among grasses. Komatsu was originally trampled under the feet by a hundred herbs, but now it has exceeded the height of Artemisia scoparia; Of course, other grasses are not to mention. The word "Chu" is used accurately, which not only shows the scene of Komatsu's development and change from small to large, but also plays a role in connecting the past with the future in structure: "Chu" is the inevitable result of "thorn" and a harbinger of "Lingyun" in the future. Things are always developing step by step, and it is impossible to reach the sky in one step. Therefore, Komatsu can only "gradually realize" from "stabbing his head in the grass" to "growing out of Artemisia". "Awakening" is both measured and implicit. Who is "gradually aware"? Only those who care and cherish Komatsu can observe and compare from time to time, can they "gradually feel"; As for those who don't care about Komatsu's growth and turn a blind eye, how can they talk about "gradual awareness"? Therefore, the author gave a deep sigh with a change of pen:
"People didn't know Lingyun wood at that time, and waited until Lingyun began to be high. There are two "Lingyun" here, the former refers to Komatsu and the latter refers to Dasong. It is a fact that the great pine is "Lingyun". Praising it for its height does not mean that it has a good eye, nor does it make much sense. Komatsu is still young and as plain as grass. If we can recognize it as "Lingyunmu" and cherish and cultivate it, it will be insightful and meaningful. However, it is this word "knowledge" that people who are worldly lack, so the poet sighs: short-sighted "people" will not regard Komatsu as a pillar, and how many Komatsu have been destroyed and killed because they are ignorant! Didn't these Komatsu suffer the same tragic fate as Han Yu's swift horse who died in a trough?
Du Xunhe was born in poverty, and although he was talented when he was young, he failed to make repeated attempts because of "no acquaintance between emperors" ("Farewell to Jiujiang Li Langzhong"), and he had no way to serve the country and was down and out all his life. Isn't the "Komatsu" buried in the deep grass a self-portrait of the poet?
