I think it’s probably because the ancient Chinese liked square and regular shapes, so the characters they created were square characters, while foreigners were more advocating romance and liked streamlined shapes, so the characters they created were letters. .
The invention of Chinese characters---
■ Chinese characters, "legend" were created by Cangjie, the historian of the Yellow Emperor's era. He observed all things and made characters based on the shapes of objects. However, although it is recorded in ancient books, it is just a "legend" after all.
■ In fact, Chinese characters originated from the ancestors' "knotting ropes to record events" (Note 1) (Note 2). It was the creation of our ancestors' joint efforts. Cangjie may just be the person who "organized the text".
■ The number of words gradually changes from less to more due to the needs of use.
It is a convention.
■ Everyone knows that Qin Shihuang unified writing, so before Qin, the way writing was different from country to country. During the Han Dynasty, Li Ding changed the picture-style small seal script into a stroke-by-stroke official script, which was more convenient for copying and copying. The shape of the characters was roughly finalized, but of course there were still some changes and additions.
■ Traditional Chinese was invented by "Cangjie"!
All ancient texts are in traditional Chinese characters! (Note 2)
※※
(Note 1) Knotting a rope to remember things: In ancient times, when there was no writing, tying knots on a rope was a way to remember things. It is the earliest Chinese character. One of the origins!
(Note 2) In ancient times, since writing had not yet been invented, everything had to be recorded using knotted ropes. One day, Cangjie asked a subordinate named "Er Mu" to exchange one horse for two cars and come back. Er Mu tied one end of the rope with a knot, and then tied the other end of the rope with two knots. , then led the horses to the market. After Ermuou found the owner of the car seller, he exchanged the two horses he brought with him for a car, and happily went back to pay the owner.
However, after returning home, Cangjie saw why he only came back with one car after asking for two cars... He was wondering what was going on and planned to ask Ermuo! Smart kids, do you know why? Wow! It turned out that although Ermumu tied the rope, he recorded the items he wanted to buy backwards. He recorded the original "one horse for two carts" as "one cart for two horses", which made the market owner earn one horse in vain. , which caused everyone to make a lot of mistakes and make everyone upset, and it also caused Master Cangjie a lot of headaches! Because of this kind of suffering, Cangjie thought to himself, how can we solve the problem at hand?
Cangjie was scribbling on the sand every day, feeling very annoyed... One day, Cangjie saw a string of fish hanging on the windowsill, and suddenly he was inspired, hey! The clever Cangjie had an idea, and a hieroglyph similar to "fish" gradually appeared in his mind. A series of characters appeared in his mind one after another, and he suddenly realized that the sun was the word "sun", and the field was the word "field". There are words like "mouth, eyes, and ears" that are also transformed from graphics. He discovered that every thing has a graphic to represent its meaning. The characters transformed from scenery are called "pictographic" characters. It's really wonderful!
Cangjie said to himself: One tree is "wood", more trees are "forest"; one "stone" represents stone, and three stones represent many stones, which is "Lei" The word "an" is the word for a person to rest under a tree. People in ancient times thought that women would be most at ease when they stayed at home, so they invented the word "安" and combined the two words to form a word with another meaning. It’s called the word “knowing”. It’s so interesting! And the characters created by the principle of "referring to things" can make you understand the meaning immediately, such as up and down, two people fighting each other with knives is the word "fight"; because later the characters were not enough, they were added to the hieroglyphics. On the basis of this, the symbol of form or sound is added to form a "phonetic" character, such as "carp". Combining the character "li" and the character "fish" means "carp"; there is also the character "zhuanzhu", which combines characters with similar pictographic and phonetic meanings to each other. The other kind of "borrowed" words are words with the same pronunciation, which are borrowed to have other meanings, such as kaohelao! Cangjie picked up a branch and scribbled on the ground, and he became more and more experienced. Finally, he discovered the secret and essentials of using words to record things, which are the six principles that form Chinese characters, called Liushu - "pictograms, referring to things, "Understanding, phonetic, transfer, and pretense." Dalong and Xiao Taiji on the side exclaimed that Chinese characters are so great, and they danced happily!
The news that Cangjie could create characters reached the palace. One day, the Yellow Emperor summoned Cangjie into the palace. Cangjie explained to the emperor the origin and meaning of characters one by one: "The sun has just risen. "Dan" character; he drew a "hand" character and added a "eye" character, put his hand on his eyes, and added eyes to his hand, it can become the character "look"." Huangdi laughed loudly after hearing this and asked Cangjie to concentrate on making characters later. Every day after that, Cangjie worked harder and more actively to create more words to benefit the public. This is the origin of our Chinese characters!
