The life of Cao Jianlou

Cao Jianlou was born in Nantong, Jiangsu Province in 1913. His original name was Zhen, and his name was Jianqiu. The name of his house was You Study Room and Yong Heng Room. A disciple of Wang Geyi, he is good at freehand flowers, fruits and vegetables, and is also good at calligraphy. During his lifetime, he was a painter of the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy, a member of the Xiling Seal Society, a member of the Chinese Artists Association, a librarian of the Shanghai Museum of Literature and History, and the vice president of the Wu Changshuo Research Association. He died of illness on July 9, 2005 at the age of 93. Good at Chinese painting, calligraphy and seal cutting. In 1937, he studied calligraphy, painting and seal cutting from Wang Geyi. He has served as a Chinese painting teacher at Shanghai Arts and Crafts School. His works include "Palm and Rhododendron", "Tulips", etc.

Cao Jianlou has been engaged in the creation of Chinese paintings for a long time, and has learned the essence of "Wumen" painting and made innovations. He is good at painting flowers, fruits and vegetables, especially pomegranates, and is known as "Cao Pomegranate". His works are widely collected by collectors at home and abroad.
