Introduction to Lu Muxun

Lu Muxun, named Lu Li, was born on December 26, 1928 in Ruzhou, Henan. He devoted his life to the creation of Chinese paintings and the study of art theory, and also studied calligraphy and poetry. The results of his exploration and innovation in Chinese painting have promoted the development of Chinese painting. He is one of the representative painters of contemporary Chinese painting. In his early years, he studied painting from Shi Leiyuan, Xie Ruijie, Zhang Zhaoming and Xu Songan. Graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the College of Literature and Art of Chung Yuan University in 1950. He has successively served as the art team leader of Changjiang Daily, deputy director of the Literary Theory Research Office of the Hubei Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the fourth director of the Chinese Artists Association, a professional painter and resident vice-chairman of the Hubei Branch of the Artists Association, and a national first-class artist. Advisor to Hubei Artists Association, Vice President of Hubei Painting and Calligraphy Academy, Vice President of Hubei Chinese Flower and Bird Painting Publishing and Teaching Academy, Vice Chairman of Hubei Chinese Flower and Bird Painting Research Association, President of Shenzhen Gufeng Painting Academy, President of Hubei Provincial Ink Painting Academy, etc. Shandong Wenxuan Gallery recommends painter Lu Muxun as one of the Four Elders in Hubei (the other three are Zhou Shaohua, Feng Jinsong, and Tang Wenxuan) and one of the founders of the Yangtze River School of Painting.
