Where did the calligraphy red couplets come from and enter the province?

The couplets are gaomi city's.

Gaomi paper-cutting, dusty New Year pictures, clay sculptures and Qiang Mao are called Gaomi Four Treasures of the Study. Entering Gaomi, calligraphy couplets with red paper and black characters can be seen everywhere. Gaomi people like to post Spring Festival couplets in the New Year. Different from other places, people prefer all-red couplets, and even the words on them are dyed red with ink and other pigments. Hanging red couplets during the Spring Festival is a traditional custom in China.

People usually put couplets written in red paper on doorways, windows and walls to express their wishes and good expectations for the new year.
