What is Yi Bingshou's pen like?
Yi Bingshou's official script enjoys a high reputation. The pen is round and steady, without exaggerated swallowtail picking, but a silkworm head and a silkworm tail. It goes straight, stops when it comes to writing, and achieves romantic beauty between what is and what is not. His official script, especially after he was appointed as the magistrate of Huizhou and Yangzhou, is even more romantic and elegant. His seal script is based on the stone carvings of Wufeng in the second year, the Three Ques in Songshan, and the stone carvings in the Middle Temple. Wu Yanlian's calligraphy is magnificent, and his brushwork is square and unique. Despite the wave of Han Lizhi, his brushwork is thick in vertical painting and skillful in simplicity.
