Present situation of Chinese character writing

At present, more than 90% primary and middle school students in China have no calligraphy classes. Although some primary and secondary schools have calligraphy classes, they exist in name only, and calligraphy education has basically faded out of primary and secondary education. Most students' writing level is getting worse and worse, and their handwriting is scrawled and typos are constant. It is common to forget words. According to a sampling survey of senior students' writing in several primary schools in a certain place, among the 40 papers surveyed, 6 failed to recognize the names of the students who answered the questions. 10 randomly selected this composition book, and 7 of them were scrawled and untidy. Some students can't recognize the notebook when they randomly draw. Some websites have voted on whether primary and secondary schools need to strengthen writing education, and the number of people in favor is 100%.

When human beings enter the network age, the way of information dissemination and exchange has changed greatly. The writing pen and the computer mouse are fighting for the world of writing Chinese characters. As typing on the keyboard becomes faster and faster, students' handwriting becomes more and more ugly.

Writing education in the cultural circle of Chinese characters has a long tradition. Our neighbors Japan and South Korea attach great importance to writing education in primary and secondary schools. Japanese calligraphy and Korean calligraphy have a very broad foundation, and South Korea even wants to declare calligraphy as an intangible cultural heritage of the United Nations. Many former prime ministers of South Korea have jointly written to the current President Lee Myung-bak, demanding the implementation of Chinese character education in primary schools; Japan requires students to know and write 2000 Chinese characters.
