Ma Shi takes the thirty-seventh hexagram "Family Gua" in Zhouyi as his family motto. The general idea is: the woman is in charge, the man is away, and the old and the young are orderly. Parents should be strict with themselves without breaking the law. The whole family should be honest and solemn, do their part, do their best, live in harmony and the world is stable. It embodies the Confucian educational thought. Carved in the 13th year of Guangxu (1887).
Note: This family instruction is an imitation written by a famous calligrapher, and the real one has been collected and preserved by the National Cultural Relics Warehouse.
