Why do words look better when written on paper towels than when written elsewhere?

Due to the sense of damping, writing that is too smooth will lead to uneven strokes and uneven structure. Therefore, it looks ugly when written. For example, when writing a name on an answer sheet, some strokes will be longer or shorter. Rice paper used in calligraphy is the best example. It has a bit of smear, which makes the strokes more rounded, and has a rough surface with appropriate damping. That’s why it looks good.
