Introduction to Wang Minji

Wang Minji, a famous Chinese calligrapher and musician. Born in 1932 in Yanmen Village, Baisha Town, Yangshuo County, Guangxi, from a scholarly family. He attended private school in kindergarten. He graduated from South China Institute of Literature and Art and Central South Music College in the 1950s. He later taught in the Composition Department of Hubei University of the Arts. In the 1960s, he studied musicology at the Central Conservatory of Music. In the 1980s, he was transferred to Beijing Chinese Musicians Society, served as the executive deputy editor-in-chief of the National Editorial Committee of "Collection of Chinese Ethnic Folk Instrumental Music" and director of the Editorial Department of "Collection of Chinese Folk Songs". In thirty years, he has written 60 volumes with about 120 million words. Because of his contribution to the rescue and protection of national folk cultural heritage, the Ministry of Culture awarded him the "Special Contribution Individual Award" and received a special government allowance from the State Council.
