Beijing Haidian University for the Elderly was founded on September 5, 1984. It is the first university for the elderly in Beijing. It is a private public-sector collective institution with Qi Xin as the legal person and president. The school mainly focuses on the teaching of calligraphy and painting, and combines the teaching of poetry, calligraphy, painting and seal printing. The major includes: calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting at three levels, six-year general classes at the junior, middle and senior levels, one- to four-year specialized classes in various calligraphy and painting styles, and specialized classes in poetry and seal cutting. The school's calligraphy and painting research institute has various calligraphy and painting training classes and researcher lectures for high-level entrance examinations.
