What does General Zhang Xueliang mean by "the hometown of sika deer in China"?

According to Zhang Yongbin's biography of Zhang Xueliang:

Concerned about the deer industry in my hometown

1in the summer of 994, the Taiwan Province Compatriots Association of Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province wrote a letter to Mr. Zhang Xueliang who spent his later years in Hawaii, USA. On May 27th of the following year, this letter was sent to Lu Lin, the son of Zhang Xueliang, and then passed on to his father.

After receiving the letter, Zhang Xueliang read it slowly. The information introduced in the letter reminds him of the time when he visited the sika deer paddock in Dongfeng County.

It turns out that as early as the 21st year of Guangxu (1895), Empress Dowager Cixi issued an imperial edict to establish a paddock, the Royal Deer Garden, at the foot of Wulian Mountain in Fuli Hasheqin, in the hinterland of Changbai Mountain in Dongfeng County. Zhao, born as an Orion in Qin Dynasty, is a deer official with seven official positions, specializing in raising and domesticating tribute deer. The palace requires Zhao to pay tribute to 20 live deer every year, and there are many kinds of deer products 10.

/kloc-the imperial system was abolished in 0/9l2, and the sika deer in the Royal Deer Garden became the private property of the Zhao family. Sika deer breed more and more. At most, there are as many as 890 sika deer in four deer pens. Later, Zhao and his son, Zhao Zhenshan, opened a ginseng antler shop in the street of Hulihasheqin, processing and manufacturing Chinese patent medicines-deer fetus pills and ginseng antler pills.

/kloc-in the summer of 0/926, the pharmacy opened, and Zhao Zhenshan invited elders, gentry and dignitaries to dinner. Among them, the young Zhang Xueliang is also one of the invited guests. After receiving the invitation, Zhang Xueliang immediately led his brother Zhang and the guards to drive to the banquet to congratulate him.

Zhang Xueliang saw with his own eyes the majestic momentum of the Royal Deer Garden, surrounded by beautiful scenery, lush trees and green valley Luming Literature. Zhang Xueliang walked into the drugstore with carved beams and painted buildings, fell on the table, took a pen and showed paper, and wrote down "Wanshoutang". When they saw three powerful and meaningful running script characters, they all praised them with one voice.

Zhang Xueliang said modestly, "Learn well and write badly." Then, while writing a couplet:

Look closely at velvet antler like a forest;

It is also rare to taste goblins like people.

Then, Zhao Zhenshan invited a skilled craftsman from Shenyang to rebuild the front of the pharmacy, on which Zhang Xueliang's inscription "Wanshoutang" was hung. Drugstore pillars, deeply painted with red paint and engraved with gold couplets, shine. Since then, the pharmacy business is booming and its products sell well at home and abroad.

At this time, Zhang Xueliang was very happy to see that the sika deer breeding industry in "Deer Township" had developed so much, and he happily wrote "The Land of Sika Deer in China".

In the same year10.2, 165438, Mo Bao of Zhang Xueliang was sent to Liaoyuan Taiwan Province Compatriots Association. After learning this information, the leaders of the Dongfeng County Party Committee and the county government immediately found a skilled craftsman to carve Zhang Xueliang's inscription on the "trunk" decorative column in the sculpture of Lin Ruben, the director of Nanshan Hotel.

1996 in June and July, Dongfeng county held an activity to commemorate the bicentennial of artificial breeding of deer, and invited famous people at home and abroad to come. Among them, Zhang Xueliang is also invited. After receiving the invitation to Cambodia, Zhang Xueliang was unable to visit Luxiang because of his advanced age and inconvenient movement. However, he is happy with the vigorous development of Luxiang today. He was pleased to learn that eight state-owned deer farms, collectives and individuals in Luxiang raised 65,438+800,000 sika deer, with an annual output of 6,000 kilograms of velvet antler. Deer products are exported to Japan, America, Britain, Russia, Hong Kong and other places.

1On May 8, 1996, Zhang Xueliang specially entrusted his son-in-law Tao Pengfei to send a congratulatory letter to the Dongfeng County People's Government from Los Angeles, USA: "I am glad to learn that your county celebrated the bicentennial of artificial deer breeding, and my letter has been received. This is hereby announced. I hereby attach my recent photo. "

In his octogenarian years, Zhang Xueliang is still concerned about raising deer in his hometown in Northeast China, which has been passed down as a much-told story by people in his hometown. "Luxiang" people are determined to build "Luxiang" into the largest sika deer breeding base in the world in a short time.
