Shang Chengzuo loved ancient cultural relics and ancient characters since he was a child, but he was determined to work hard in this respect. In order to further his studies, he went to Tianjin in the autumn of 192 1 and studied Oracle Bone Inscriptions and bronze inscriptions under the guidance of the famous archaeologist Shangyu Luo Zhenyu. At the age of 20, he entered Peking University Institute to study Chinese studies.
1923, when I was 2 1 year-old, I published an Oracle dictionary "Yin Ruins Collection", which became famous in a weak position and was appreciated by academic masters Luo Zhenyu and Wang Guowei.
On 1922, I met Rong Geng, a native of Dongguan, Guangdong. Since then, they have kept close contact with their fellow villagers. Especially after the adjustment of the 1952 department, they were in the same school and soon fought side by side in the research room of ancient Chinese characters. Both of them became one of the few famous scholars in China.

Professor Shang Chengzuo has set up many courses in the history department, such as the study of Yin and Zhou artifacts, the inscription of Yin and Zhou artifacts, the study of Yin ruins, the study of three generations of artifacts, and the notes of exegetical roots.
From 65438 to 0929, after Professor Gu Jiegang left school, Professor Shang Chengzuo succeeded as the acting director of the Institute of Language History. He not only presided over the work of the institute, but also did a lot of research work. In the Series of Language History edited by Gu Jiegang, Shang Chengzuo is in charge of archaeology, and has published fourteen volumes of Yin Ruins, his own Collection of Stone Carvings and Seal Characters, Jin Cuiwen and so on.

The Association "excavated the relics of the Southern Han Dynasty, collected antiques in this province, examined and approved the calligraphy and painting of ancient artifacts collected by this institute" and set up an antique showroom, which "won the praise of Chinese and foreign visitors". Professor Shang Chengzuo has been teaching in this school for three years.

War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out, moved westward with Jinling University, and later served as a professor in cheeloo university, Chongqing University and Chongqing Women's Normal University.
