Zhao Dezhao's life:
1. Taizu was not sealed
Zhao Dezhao was a man who did not show his joy or anger on his face. In the second year of Qiande (964), the prince came out of the cabinet. According to the usual practice, the prince was crowned the king as soon as he came out of the cabinet. Zhao Dezhao's father, Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin, thought that Zhao Dezhao was young and wanted him to gradually become a king, so on the fifth day of June of the same year, he appointed Zhao Dezhao as the defense envoy of Guizhou.
On the fifth day of December in the fourth year of Kaibao's reign (971), Song Taizu held a celebration to increase the number of households in Zhao Dezhao's food town. In the sixth year of Kaibao's reign (973), Emperor Taizu of the Song Dynasty appointed Zhao Dezhao as Xingyuan Yin, Shannan West Road Jiedu Envoy, School Inspector, and Tongzhongshu Menxia Pingzhangshi. When Song Taizu was still alive, Zhao Dezhao was never given the title of king.
2. The first title of county king
In the ninth year of Kaibao (976), Song Taizu died. Zhao Dezhao's uncle, Jin King Zhao Guangyi, succeeded to the throne as Song Taizong. In the same year, Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty appointed Zhao Dezhao as Jingzhaoyin, moved to Yongxing, and served concurrently as the minister, and then he began to be named the King of Wugong County. Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty ordered him to be above the prime minister when meeting with Qi King Zhao Tingmei.
In February of the third year of Taiping and Xingguo's reign (978), Zhao Dezhao married the crown prince Tai Fu Wang Puzhi's wife, and the imperial court named Wang her the Lady of Korea. During the suburban sacrifice in the winter of the same year, Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty appointed Zhao Dezhao as the chief inspector.
3. Died by suicide
In the fourth year of Taiping and Xingguo's reign (979), Zhao Dezhao followed Song Taizong to attack Youzhou. There was a panic in the army at night, and they didn't know where Song Taizong was. Some people planned to make Zhao Dezhao emperor. Song Taizong was very unhappy when he learned about it.
After returning to the capital, Song Taizong did not reward the heroes of the Battle of Taiyuan for a long time because of the unfavorable situation of the Northern Expedition. Zhao Dezhao discussed this matter with Song Taizong. Song Taizong was furious and said, "When you become emperor yourself, it will not be too late to reward him." Zhao Dezhao committed suicide after retreating from the court.
