Changyuan is known as the hometown of chefs in China and calligraphy in Henan.

Changyuan County is a county directly under Henan Province. Located in the northeast of Henan Province, it faces Dongming County across the Yellow River in the east, borders fengqiu county and lankao county in the south, and borders hua county and Puyang County in the north. Named after "the county has a defensive wall". Changyuan governs 9 towns and 4 townships.

By the end of 20 12, there were 23,000 professional chefs in the county, including more than 200 people who worked as chefs abroad. In September 2004, Changyuan County successfully held the China (Changyuan) Hometown of Chefs International Food Festival.
