Nangu Town was once the birthplace of Qu Mengxun, the royal residence of the Northern Liang Dynasty, when Song Lin County was established in the Sixteen Kingdoms Period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Horseshoe Temple, a famous Buddhist temple built after Ju Mengxun claimed the title of king, is only ten miles away from Nangu Town, his birthplace. There are beacon towers, Jinghui Temple ruins, Shang Garden Stage ruins, Chajiabao ruins and so on.
Nanguan Town not only produced politicians, but also calligraphers, among whom Guo Jiarui, a calligrapher in the late Qing Dynasty, Duan Tengjiao, a calligrapher and juren in the Qing Dynasty, were famous.
