Set sail with a dream

-Remember the new calligrapher Fang.

Author/Sharla Cheung

There are only a handful of nationalities with calligraphy art in the world, among which only China's calligraphy has the longest history, the widest spread and the closest relationship with national culture. Calligraphy, as an artistic creation, is mysterious and difficult. China's calligraphy art lies in its rich aesthetic feeling and intriguing interest in its physical structure, from which we can find the moral education factors such as the steady posture, symmetrical shape and harmonious structure of China's Chinese characters, showing the overall thought of collocation, density, interspersion, opening and closing, concession, black and white and coordination, as well as the scientific principles of writing, brushwork and composition, which fully embodies the multi-functional characteristics of this humanities discipline. Through the writing of these contents, the effect of moistening things is naturally produced. It is these healthy and positive contents that exert a subtle influence on students' ideology and morality in the process of writing, which is also the magic of China's calligraphy.

Fang is a quiet, steady and very traditional girl. She is 20 years old and graduated from Anhui International Studies University. She is obsessed with inheriting China's traditional calligraphy and seal cutting. She has a deep love for China's traditional calligraphy art, and sets sail with her dreams to learn, explore and pursue. Now she has become a rookie in calligraphy, and her calligraphy works are as elegant and concise as herself. No matter in regular script, official script and seal script, it is not old and vigorous, but it shows the quaint charm of calligraphy.

Fang was born in an ordinary family. When she was six, she lived with her grandparents. Her grandfather studied in a private school for three years when he was a child, and she has a certain knowledge of calligraphy. Her grandfather often teaches her to hold a brush and a pen. Fang has a strong interest in calligraphy since he was a child. She often picks up the branches of the village and practices calligraphy in the sand. When she was at school, she began to practice calligraphy on old newspapers in her spare time. Without teachers and professors, she studied calligraphy. She posted regular script in Ou Yangxun, official script on memorial tablet and seal script in Wu Rangzhi. Fang is very savvy in learning books, and she has a good copy. Her mother saw her daughter's love for calligraphy and gave her special support. Fang's first teacher, Zhang Xinghe, 1992 joined the Anhui Calligraphers Association. 20 12 Joined Anhui Artists Association. 20 13 served as vice president and secretary general of Bengbu seal cutting research society. Teacher Zhang Xinghe thinks that Fang Lin Yue is open-minded and eager to learn, and he is a plastic material in calligraphy and seal cutting. He taught calligraphy and seal cutting by hand, which benefited Fang a lot. Fang's road of calligraphy seal cutting is also determined from this. Soon, Fang worshipped Shan Lingyan as his teacher. Majored in calligraphy.

Shan Lingyan, male, born in 1969, Guzhen County, Anhui Province. Member of China Calligraphers Association, national famous calligrapher, young writer and poet. His calligraphy works won the second Lanting Calligraphy Award in China, the "National Award" in the fourth couplet calligraphy exhibition, the bronze award in the second national TV Calligraphy Competition of Xinghua Village Fenjiu Group Cup, the excellence award in the National Calligraphy Competition of Xianfu Award and the gold medal in the first international calligraphy competition in Singapore. In 2006, Shan Lingyan came to Taizhou at the invitation of a friend. In 2008, Shan Lingyan's calligraphy studio was opened in Taizhou, which mainly trained in two aspects: the elite class of children's calligraphy and the advanced class of adult calligraphy decoration. For more than ten years, Shan Lingyan has taught thousands of students, including more than a dozen national calligraphers.

In order to learn calligraphy from Mr. Shan, Fang always goes to Taizhou for advice alone in winter and summer vacations. Under the careful guidance of Teacher Shan, Fang's calligraphy level has improved rapidly. During my study in Taizhou during the summer vacation of 20 18, I was deeply touched to see that Shan Lingyan persisted in her post after teaching. She asked Teacher Shan: With your current fame and achievements, why do you insist on posting? ? Teacher Shan said: We must take the right path in learning calligraphy. There is no shortcut to the art of calligraphy. Only by learning the techniques of ancient and modern calligraphy, learning from others, persisting in learning calligraphy and pursuing innovation in exploration and practice can we achieve something.

Teacher Shan's words were deeply impressed on Fang's mind. Calligraphy artists not only pay attention to techniques, innovation is the accumulation and precipitation of calligraphers' inner knowledge, and it is the combination of accomplishment and quality.

Hobbies are the driving force, and persistence can make dreams come true.

May Fang go further and further on the road of calligraphy art and walk out of a new world.
