Dong Shouping (1904- 1997) is a famous contemporary painter and calligrapher. Formerly known as Yan, the word "He" was renamed as Dushu Village, Hongtong County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province. He graduated from Nankai University in Tianjin and Oriental University in Beijing in his early years. Known for painting pine, bamboo, plum and orchid, he was known as the Huangshan Giant in his later years. He painted landscapes with Huangshan as the theme and was good at calligraphy. He used to be a consultant of China Calligraphers Association, a member of China Artists Association, a consultant of Beijing Rong Baozhai, director of the painting and calligraphy room of China People's Political Consultative Conference, honorary president of Beijing Chinese Painting Research Association, honorary president of Shaanxi Cultural Relics Research Association, director of Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, director of China Friendship Association, vice president of Beijing Friendship with Foreign Countries, and member of the 5th and 6th CPPCC National Committee.
