This song should only have a complete poem in heaven

The ancient poem "Giving Flowers to the Queen": The silk tubes in Jincheng are flying one after another, half into the river wind and half into the clouds. This song should only exist in heaven, how many times can it be heard in the human world?

Translation: The music in Jinguan City is soft and melodious every day, half of it drifts away with the river wind, and half of it floats into the clouds. Such music should only exist in heaven. How can all living beings in the world hear it so many times?

Annotators have always had different opinions on this poem. One theory is that Hua Jingding was arrogant and used the emperor's rituals and music, so Du Fu wrote this poem to satirize him. It is said that this poem only praises the splendor of singing and dancing at Hua Qing's banquet, and there is no need to be ironic. We think that the previous request was too deep. Although Hua Jingding was domineering, he was a Sichuan Yajiang after all, and it was impossible for him to usurp the emperor's rituals and music. Later, he said that he understood it too lightly. According to the purpose of the poem carefully, in addition to praising the prosperity of music and songs, it seems that it also embodies the poet's feelings about the past and present and his advice to Hua Qing.

Related introduction to Du Fu

Du Fu (Du Shaoling, 712-770), also known as Zimei, also known as Shaoling Yelao, was a realist poet in the Tang Dynasty. Together with Li Bai, he was known as Li Du, later generations call him the Saint of Poetry, and his poems are called the history of poetry. When Du Fu was a boy, he traveled to Wuyue, Qi and Zhao successively, during which time he went to Luoyang to fail in the examination. After the age of thirty-five, he first took the examination in Chang'an and failed; later he presented gifts to the emperor and nobles.

Unsuccessful in officialdom, he witnessed with his own eyes the extravagance and social crisis of the upper class of the Tang Dynasty. In the fourteenth year of Tianbao (755), the Anshi Rebellion broke out and Tongguan fell. Du Fu traveled to many places. In the second year of Qianyuan (759), Du Fu abandoned his official position and went to Sichuan. Although he escaped the war and lived a relatively stable life, he still cared about the common people and national affairs. Du Fu created famous works such as "Ascend the High", "Spring View" and "Northern Expedition".

The core of Du Fu's thoughts is the thought of benevolent government. He has the grand ambition of bringing the emperors Yao and Shun to the throne and making customs pure. Although Du Fu was not well-known during his lifetime, he later became famous and had a profound impact on both Chinese and Japanese literature. About 1,500 poems by Du Fu have been preserved, most of which are collected in "Du Gongbu Collection".
