Why did Guo Moruo put forward the view that Preface to Lanting is a fake calligraphy?

There have been different opinions about the authenticity of Wang Xizhi's Preface to the Lanting Pavilion in history. Guo Wen's point of view, the masterpiece Preface to the Lanting Pavilion, which was highly praised and respected by scholars of all ages, is not only fake calligraphy, but also a text written by non-Wang, and has made a long discussion on this point. With Guo Moruo's status and influence in academic circles at that time, once published, it caused an uproar from the excavation of Xie Wang's epitaph to the authenticity of Preface to Lanting.

Guo Moruo asserted in the article "The Authenticity of the Preface to the Lanting Pavilion from the Unearthed Epitaph of Xie Wang" that the calligraphy and writing tools of the Preface to the Lanting Pavilion were made by his seventh Sun Zhiyong for the following reasons:

First of all, it is considered that the writing of couples and epitaphs belongs to official script, which is different from the regular script of Lanting Preface handed down from generation to generation, and thus it is concluded that there would be no such writing of Lanting Preface in the Eastern Jin Dynasty where Wang Xizhi lived.

Secondly, not only the calligraphy of Preface to Lanting was not written by Wang Xizhi, but also the article was "deleted, modified and expanded on the basis of the original Preface to He Lin". "The article and pen and ink of Preface to Lanting are all based on wisdom and courage." In other words, the preface to the collection of Lanting handed down from ancient times and calligraphy are all forgeries, and the author is the seventh grandson of Wang Xizhi and Sui Chenshi.

Thirdly, Preface to Lanting Collection (Feng Chengsu's model book), a book handed down from ancient times, is the original work of Preface to Lanting Collection written by Zhiyong, and it is the earliest ink book. Frankly speaking, Zhi Yong's calligraphy "the brushwork structure and the calligraphy of the Preface to the Lanting Pavilion are completely a system", "It can be said frankly that the ink of the dragon book is the true version of the Preface to the Lanting Pavilion. This ink should be written by Zhiyong. " The preface to the collection of Lanting fully conforms to Zhiyong's "Zen master" tone, and Zhiyong's calligraphy is good enough to write such a masterpiece.

Fourthly, Li Wentian's view of Qing Dynasty was reiterated, and it was recognized that "Lanting in front of Liang Dynasty was different from Lanting". ) "Lanting" After the Tang Dynasty, the words are still hard to believe. What word is it! ""If there were no books about the right army in the past, if there were, it must be similar to Cong Baozi and Cong Longyan. "Wang Xizhi's calligraphy style can only be similar to the above two tablets.

Fifth, there will not be more than two different styles in the same period.

Guo Moruo inferred from reading Xie Wang's epitaph and the calligraphy style of Jin Dynasty that Lanting depended on many "bases" and specific time, and then inferred how the ideological tendency of Preface to Lanting did not conform to Wang Xizhi's mood and personality at that time, and then inferred what Wang Xizhi's calligraphy style should look like in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and wrote 20,000 or 30,000 words at a time.
