What does fan editing mean?

Peer editors are both editors and writers.

During the New Culture Movement, there were eight fan editors before and after the editing of New Youth, followed by Chen Duxiu, Qian, Liu Bannong, Tao, Shen, Hu Shi, Gao and Li Dazhao.

New Youth, formerly known as Youth magazine, played an important role in the May 4th Movement. From the first issue19 15 September15 to the last issue1926 July 54, it was published in 9 volumes. Founded by Chen Duxiu in Shanghai and published by Qunyi Bookstore. The publication started the New Culture Movement, advocating democracy and science, science ("Mr. Sai"), democracy ("Mr. De") and new literature.

Editor of New Youth Fan introduced:

Chen Duxiu (1879- 1942) was born in Huaining, Anhui (now Anqing). The leader of the New Culture Movement, the founder of New Youth, the star of the ideological circle, and the general commander of the May 4th Movement, studied in Japan in his early years. 19 17 was hired as a senior liberal arts student in Peking University, and invited "new figures" from Peking University to join the editorial department of New Youth.

Qian (1887- 1939) was born in Huzhou, Zhejiang. Zhang Taiyan's favorite pupil, the master of exegetics, and the father of Qian Sanqiang, the founder of "Two Bombs and One Satellite". Actively "waved the flag and shouted" for the literary reform movement, advocated the "Mandarin Movement", carried out Chinese character reform, and drafted the first batch of Simplified Chinese Characters List.

Liu Bannong (189 1- 1934) is a native of Jiangyin, Jiangsu. As a writer and linguist, he has rich experience in compiling, and his translation is exquisite and faithful, which has been appreciated by Chen Duxiu. He has served as director of the Chinese Department of Sino-French University, provost of Fu Jen Catholic University, and dean of the Women's College of Beiping Women's University. 1934 died in Beijing in July.

Tao (1887- 1960), formerly known as Tao. Originally from Shaoxing, Zhejiang, he was born in Tianjin. Sociologist and philosopher, studied in Japan and Britain in his early years, and 19 14 was employed by Professor Peking University. He is the rotating editor-in-chief of New Youth, Volume 4, No.4 and Volume 5, No.6, and one of the founders of the modern research system of sociology in China. He has long led the investigation and research of organizational sociology and economics.

Shen (1883- 197 1), formerly known as Tyumen. Born in Huzhou, Zhejiang, Hanyin, Shaanxi. Scholars, poets, calligraphers and educators who studied in Japan in their early years. After the founding of New China, he has served as a member of the Shanghai People's Committee, deputy director of the Central Museum of Literature and History, member of the Second and Third CPPCC and deputy to the Third National People's Congress.

Hu Shi (189 1- 1962), formerly known as Simi, was born in Jixi, Anhui. Thinker, writer and philosopher, studied in the United States in his early years, and 19 17 was employed by Professor Peking University. He is the rotating editor-in-chief of volume 4, issue 6, volume 5, issue 4 and volume 6 of New Youth. Later, he served as the president of China College and Peking University, and China's ambassador to the United States.
