The students of Guozixue in the Sui Dynasty were the children of nobles and high-ranking officials. The student background of Taixue was lower than that of Guozixue, and its main content was teaching the "Five Classics". The students of the four schools are from the common people and teach the "Five Classics". Both calligraphy and arithmetic were created in the Sui Dynasty. The enrollment target for calligraphy is children of common people, and the teaching content is the "six books and eight styles" of Chinese characters. It is a specialized school for cultivating calligraphy talents. Arithmetic also cultivates professionals in astronomy, calendar, finance, and engineering.
