Li Shu can be roughly divided into two stages: Qin Li Shu and Han Li. Qin Li, also known as Guli, was formed at the end of the Warring States Period and developed from the vulgar style used by Qin during the Warring States Period, but the influence of six languages other than Qin can not be ruled out. Scribbled, flat and simple fonts appeared on silk books and bamboo slips during the Warring States period. At the same time, simplified characters that break the structure of seal script have also appeared on seals, coins, pottery, bronzes and stone carvings, which should be the predecessor of Gu Li.
