What are the problems in today's calligraphy exhibition?

Today's book sail exhibitions are varied and endless, and calligraphy exhibitions of various forms and contents are often held. So what are the problems in these calligraphy exhibitions? Let's analyze it below.

1. At present, ugliness is common in many book fairs: many works split Chinese characters beyond recognition, and their meanings are unrecognizable; Some are crooked and have no sense of stability, which is far from the inherent genes of calligraphy; Some works lack basic legal training and it is difficult to reach the first-class level. In a recent exhibition by a calligrapher, the word "dragon" was abstractly deformed, and the basic strokes and frame structure of Chinese characters were abandoned. It is ironic to draw a dragon shape with the so-called "innovative technique", but it can't draw a dragon rhyme. In fact, I'm afraid these are not the real beauty of calligraphy, nor are they the correct ways to practice calligraphy.

Second, at the current book fair, we can see that many works lack strict rules and regulations, and without strict rules and regulations, it is easy to fall into the situation of being possessed. The calligraphy works written are uneven and bared their teeth, lacking that noble spirit, and far from reaching the standard of "beautiful style". Dong Qichang, a great calligrapher in the late Ming Dynasty, said in "Painting Zen Rooms and Commenting on Books with Articles": "The ancients took the writing of books as a major event." This also reminds us once again that writing a book cannot lack a solid composition foundation. At one time, it was regarded as a standard by calligraphers, such as "If you want to write, you must have a plan first", "If you have no intention, Yoga Yu is the best", "Ink is divided into five colors", "rotten bamboo boat" and "Long live the dead vine", but now it has long been abandoned.

Third, the formation of the so-called genre, generally speaking, is under certain time and space conditions. People with similar world outlook, outlook on life and art consciously conclude that some writers' works are mediocre and they are not even independent. What about a genre or a style? For example, "modernism" and "innovation" can be called a certain genre, because after all, they cater to some current aesthetic tastes, and they still have a certain market and are very popular at a certain stage. What's more, it is ridiculous to claim to be a certain faction, a certain body, and various factions, saying everything and holding exhibitions.

Looking at today's calligraphy creation for exhibition, the relationship between creation and exhibition was confused at the beginning of its birth. For most calligraphers, participating in the exhibition can find the identity of "calligrapher", make it professional, market-oriented and economical, turn the exhibition hall into an arena, turn creation into a skill, and pay attention to the effect brought by calligraphy exhibition, which deviates from the original intention of calligraphy creation.
