Is there a future for calligraphy graduate students?

Hello, LZ, I am a calligraphy major student and know some calligraphy graduate students. Let's just say that except for some famous fine arts institutes, the calligraphy departments of other institutions are basically imperfect. Calligraphy graduate students mainly study calligraphy and art theory, and there are not many opportunities to start writing. How to put it? There are generally two things on the road of calligraphy. One is a professional artist, which is not suitable for everyone. You can't do well without certain artistic cells and courage, and you are nothing more than a teacher. As far as teachers are concerned, the professional calligraphy in teachers' classes is not popular. It might be better if you are an undergraduate calligraphy major, but you are not a calligraphy major now. I still don't recommend graduate students to take this road.

In a word, the future of calligraphy graduate students is not clear, but some famous art colleges such as China Academy of Fine Arts, Central America, Zhejiang University, Xi Jiaotong University and other relatively mature calligraphy colleges may be better.

Finally, I'm not saying that the calligraphy major is not good, but I don't suggest that your graduate students change their major. Calligraphy finally falls on the ability to write. Academic level is not the absolute criterion for judging. You can continue to cultivate this hobby, but personally, it is not wise to take the postgraduate entrance examination.
