Temple legend of hanging temple
According to legend, many years ago, there was a temple on the hill opposite the Hanging Temple. The temple is small, the mountains are high and steep, and few people come except some pilgrims who are seriously ill at home. There is a monk named Master Baima in the temple, and the temple is also called Baima Temple. Master Baima doesn't abide by Buddhist rules, and he is jealous whenever he sees pilgrims coming and going in the Hanging Temple.
One day, Master White Horse made up his mind to meet enlightened people. He pointed to the south with dust, and the Tangyu River flooded. The water is fierce and scary. Another finger, the water rushed to the Hanging Temple. A Taoist priest in Jason Wu was meditating in a temple when he heard the sound of water and knew that Prince Charming was coming. He was in no hurry, mumbling, and the rushing water slowly receded.
Seven times in a row, the water was only five feet away from the Hanging Temple, but there was no water at all. No way, Master Baima pointed with his hand again, and the water flowed down the river, scraping off a corner of Hunyuan City. When the Taoist priest in Jason Wu saw what Master White Horse was looking for, he was also very angry. He shouted into the air, Black Hawk, where are you? As soon as the voice fell, a big black hawk flew out of the hole and landed in a corner of the Hanging Temple.
Jason Wu Taoist said: Black Hawk and White Horse are the scum of Buddhism. If you don't teach them, the people will have no peace. You should teach him a lesson and don't hurt his life. The black hawk snapped, spread its wings and flew. Master Baima doesn't know how great the enlightened Taoist is, and he doesn't know the magical power of the great disciple. He saw a black hawk flying to the White Horse Temple, flapped its wings and burst into flames in the blink of an eye.
Master white horse dodged. It was a close call. A temple was quickly reduced to ashes. The owner of the white horse was afraid, so he fled into the air on a broom. When he left, he shook the dust, pulled out a stream of water and rushed towards the black hawk's nest. However, his magic is limited, and he only washed the gravel and mud from the Black Hawk Cave.
People went to the Hanging Temple and walked into Tangyukou for half a mile. They looked up and saw a hole in the middle of the mountain. Further inside, there is a flat land on the top of Hengshan Mountain opposite the Hanging Temple, and some ruins can be seen vaguely. This is the site of Black Hawk Cave and White Horse Temple.
