Zhenbanqiao
Zheng Banqiao was a painter and calligrapher in Qing Dynasty. The most outstanding achievement in his life is that he is unique in poetry and painting, which can be called "poetry and painting".
Most of his poems come from real life, which are rich in content and interesting to read.
His handwriting is large and small, crooked, such as paving the road with stones. But it gives people a particularly beautiful feeling and is unique. This is his "Banqiao style". There are still many people imitating his calligraphy!
His paintings are also famous all over the world. He especially likes painting orchids, bamboos and stones. He believes that orchids never fade in four seasons, bamboo lasts forever, and stones never change color, which is commendable. ∥
When Zheng Banqiao was a county magistrate in Wei County, he was dismissed because of the famine there. From then on, he returned to his hometown to sell paintings for a living.
Most of the money he got from selling calligraphy and painting was donated to the poor. It is said that he carried a long pocket with money for selling paintings and distributed it to the poor all the way. When he got home, his money was scattered. ∥
Zheng Banqiao lived to be 73 years old, and his life left us a lot of precious wealth, which is always worth remembering.
