Daoguang is the sixth emperor since the Qing Dynasty entered the customs, that is, Emperor Xuanzong of the Qing Dynasty. The outbreak of the Opium War and the decline of the Qing government were not the responsibility of Daoguang alone, but that Daoguang himself was a little backward, and it was his turn to be emperor, but such a situation appeared.

The decline of the Qing Dynasty should begin with Daoguang's grandfather, Gan Long. He misjudged the world trend.

During the Qianlong period, it was the time when the western revolution was in full swing. However, the Qing government disguised itself as a country in China. In the 19th year of Qianlong, namely 1754, Rousseau published the famous Origin of Inequality. In Qianlong's later years, the French Revolution broke out, and the Declaration of Human Rights was published. The idea that human beings (except sovereignty belongs to the people) spread rapidly. By the first year of Jiaqing, that is, Qianlong was 85 years old, 1796, another great event about democracy and civilization happened in the United States, and the Qing Dynasty continued to close its doors. The backwardness of diplomatic thought is also an important reason for its decline.

During the decades from Jiaqing's succession to Daoguang's succession, western capitalism gradually matured, material civilization and spiritual civilization gradually became superior, democratic ideas spread rapidly, and capitalism was in a period of capital accumulation. However, the Qing Dynasty still closed its doors to the outside world, the self-sufficient small-scale peasant economy was dominant, the feudal monarchy was still in its heyday, and politics, economy and culture were very backward.

Western primitive accumulation of capital is frantically colonizing and expanding. In the face of long-term poverty and weakness in China, China, which is still rich in resources, will naturally lend a helping hand.
