Introduction to Tongzhou District No. 2 Middle School

Tongzhou District No. 2 Middle School is one of the first batch of complete middle schools in Beijing. The predecessor was the Tongzhou Girls' Educational Center built in 1904. It was rebuilt on the basis of the Academy by Fushan Muke, a missionary of the Congregational Church's Overseas Missionary Society in the United States.

In 1905, the school was named Fuyu Girls’ School. Famous alumni include Li Dequan and Yang Chongrui. In 1927, the school was renamed as the private Fuyu Girls' High School. In July 1951, the Hebei Province appointed the government to take over the school and renamed it Hebei Province Litong County Girls' Junior High School. Since 1959, it has also admitted boys. In 1960, it was renamed Beijing Tongxian No. 2 Middle School. In 1974, a high school department was added.
