Appreciation of Du Fu's Wang Yue

In 736, in the twenty-fourth year of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, Du Fu, 25, went to Chang 'an to take a tribute exam, and he failed the exam. So I wandered around Qi and Zhao (now Henan, Hebei, Shandong and other places), and "Looking at Yue" was written about this year. Yue: The mountain is high, which means Mount Tai in the east, in the north of Tai 'an City, Shandong Province. Young Du Fu enthusiastically praised the majestic atmosphere of Mount Tai with this poem.

Mount Tai is famous for its profound cultural connotation. Literati and writers of all ages came here to visit and left many poems. However, since the publication of Du Fu's poem Wang Yue, this masterpiece is often the first thing people think of when they mention Mount Tai. Today, there are four stone carvings of the poem "Looking at Yue" on Mount Tai, and many people extract the poem, which shows the popularity of this poem.

Du Fu wrote three poems about Wang Yue in his life. Although the topic is the same, the description object, background, theme, genre and style are different. These three poems were written by Du Fu when he was twenty-five, forty-seven and fifty-eight. Reading and comparing them together, we can get a glimpse of Du Fu's different experiences and mental processes in his youth, middle age and old age. Wang Yue, who sings Mount Tai, represents Du Fu's radiant and enterprising life in his youth. Looking at the Moon, written by Yong Huashan, represents Du Fu's middle-aged frustrated and restless life. Yong Hengshan's Wang Yue can represent Du Fu's life in his later years.
