Second couplet: Living in the world is like a dream, Hu Lao's life comes from Li Bai's "Spring" of the Tang Dynasty.

Hello!

From Tang Dynasty's "Spring Drunkenness" by Li Bai. The original sentence is "Living in the world is like a big dream, why do you work hard for a living?".

When Li Bai was drunk, he wrote about his broad-minded life that saw through everything - life is like a big dream, so why bother to live a life of excessive labor and anxiety?

"Spring Drunkenness" Author: Li Bai

Living in the world is like a big dream, why do you work hard for a living? So I was drunk all day long, lying slumped in front of the couplet.

In front of Juelai Xiaoting, a bird sang among the flowers. May I ask when? The spring breeze whispers orioles.

I feel the urge to sigh, and I pour myself into the wine. Waiting for the bright moon with great songs, I have forgotten my love after all the songs.

Translation:

Life in this world is like a big dream, there is no need to work hard all your life. So I indulged in wine all day long, and when I was drunk I was like a pile of mud lying in the front yard.

When I woke up and looked into the courtyard, I saw a bird flying among the flowers. What time is this? The spring breeze only cares about whispering to the wandering orioles.

I really want to express my feelings about this, but I still drink to myself. I sang a song to invite the bright moon in the sky, and at the end of the song I was intoxicated.

"Being in the world is like a big dream, why do you work hard for a living?" Both Taoism and Buddhism regard life as a dream and believe that life is nothing but an illusion. The "Tao" of the destination of all things and the "Buddha Dharma" of universal salvation are real and eternal. Therefore, Li Bai often got very drunk, and he wanted to forget this dream-like life while drunk. Through drunkenness, people express their criticism of the ugly and dark social reality. At the same time, in the hazy state of drunkenness, they discover new worlds with new eyes and fully enjoy the joy of life. When the poet woke up from his drunken dream, he felt that the noisy world had become extraordinarily peaceful: "When I woke up in front of the courtyard, a bird turned into a song. I asked when this happened, and the spring breeze whispered the orioles." There are flowers in front of the courtyard. Among them, a little bird was singing. It turned out that spring had arrived. It turns out that there is such a beautiful place in the world where birds are singing and flowers are fragrant and spring is bright. This kind of beautiful scenery is not so much a gift from nature, but rather an expression of the poet's state of mind. Before he was drunk, he had turned a blind eye, but now when he woke up, he suddenly realized that it was precisely because Li Bai's mind calmed down after being drunk that he discovered things that he had never discovered before in the quiet spring scenery. A beautiful place. This kind of discovery is like a philosophical epiphany, which makes people suddenly enter an unprecedented philosophical realm. It is another otherworldly world, and all human worries and worries no longer exist. All favors and disgrace are forgotten here, only aesthetic contemplation and peace of mind.

Hope it helps.
