Wang Tingyun (1151-1202) was a famous calligrapher and painter of the Jin Dynasty. His courtesy name was Ziduan, also known as Huanghuashanzhu and Huanghualaoren. He was a native of Hedong (now Yongji, Shanxi) and a native of Xiongyue (now Gaiping, Liaoning). , the grandson of Zhang Hao, the left prime minister, and the nephew of Mi Fu, lived at the foot of Huanghua Mountain in Linzhou, Henan. Jin Shizong became a Jinshi in the 16th year of Dading (1176), and went to Hanlin to compile it. He is good at poetry and essays, and is famous for his seven-character long poems with unique language creations. He was also good at calligraphy and painting, and was a landscape master named Ren Xun (alias Junmo). His calligraphy and dead wood, bamboo and stone were imitated by Mi Fu. He paid attention to the taste of pen and ink and was not constrained by established methods, surpassing those of the ancients. Together with Dang Huaiying, Zhao Feng and Zhao Bingwen, he became famous for his calligraphy. His paintings were closely integrated with poetry and prose, developing the literati painting school and having a great influence on later generations.
