Zhong You was born in Yingchuan, Zhongshi. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, Ju Xiaolian was born, and served as an assistant minister of Shang and Huangmen, assisting Emperor Xiandi to return to Luoyang in the east, and was named Donghou. After gaining the trust of Cao Cao, the prime minister of the dynasty, he became a captain, guarding Guanzhong, and made outstanding achievements, and was compared to Xiao He. Reluctantly moved to a former military adviser. When Cao Cao was made King of Wei, he served as Wei Dali Qing and Guo Xiang.
After the establishment of Cao Wei, after worshiping the court, he moved to Taiwei, ranking first in the three fairs. When he was promoted to be a teacher, he was appointed as Hou of Lingxian County. In the fourth year of Taihe (230), Zhong You died and posthumous title succeeded. At the beginning of four years (243), it was returned to Cao Cao Temple, Emperor Wu of Wei.
The influence of Zhong You's calligraphy;
Zhong You's calligraphy works have various styles, such as seal script, official script, truth, line and cursive script. His calligraphy is simple and elegant, with alternating font sizes and rigorous and meticulous overall layout.
Zhang Huaiguan's book end said: "Chang Yuan's true books are peerless, but they are too teachers, so they are gentle and prepared. There are many different interests between stippling and painting, which can be described as profound and antique. Since the Qin and Han Dynasties, there has been only one person. " His best writing is regular script. Xuanhe Pu Shu commented: "Prepare your statutes and be the father of official books."
Zhong You lived in a period when Chinese characters evolved from official script to regular script and were nearing completion. In the process of the completion of this important evolution of Chinese characters, Zhong You played a powerful role in promoting. On the one hand, he can conform to the trend of the times and be good at learning new books that appear among the people; On the other hand, he studies hard and is good at thinking and learning.
According to Zhang Yanyuan's Dharma Sutra in the Tang Dynasty, Cai Yong was influenced by God and spread to Cui Yuan and his daughter Moon Hee, Zhong You of Moon Hee, Zhong You's wife, Wang Xizhi of Wei Fu and Wang Xizhi's Wang Xianzhi.
It can be seen that Zhong You is the second generation of Cai Yong's calligraphy. In fact, the great artistic achievements of Zhong You's calligraphy art are not limited to the study of one family.
According to Chen Si's Book of Classics in Song Dynasty, Zhong You studied calligraphy for three years as a teenager, and then studied calligraphy of Cao and others. Therefore, Zhong You, like any successful scholar, is the result of collecting predecessors' achievements, working hard and assiduously studying.
