Zhong You was born in Yingchuan, Zhongshi. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, Ju Xiaolian was born, and served as an assistant minister of Shang and Huangmen, assisting Emperor Xiandi to return to Luoyang in the east, and was named Donghou. After gaining the trust of Cao Cao, the prime minister of the dynasty, he became a captain, guarding Guanzhong, and made outstanding achievements, and was compared to Xiao He. Reluctantly moved to a former military adviser. When Cao Cao was made King of Wei, he served as Wei Dali Qing and Guo Xiang.

After the establishment of Cao Wei, after worshiping the court, he moved to Taiwei, ranking first in the three fairs. When he was promoted to be a teacher, he was appointed as Hou of Lingxian County. In the fourth year of Taihe (230), Zhong You died and posthumous title succeeded. At the beginning of four years (243), it was returned to Cao Cao Temple, Emperor Wu of Wei.
