Hello everyone!
I am a full-time mother of two children. I was able to enter the 21-day writing training camp partly because of my interest and partly because of the enthusiasm and careful guidance of my class.
I originally thought that writing is a process of accumulation. If you read more, you will naturally be able to write; if you write more, you will naturally become proficient. But otherwise, Banban tells us that writing can actually get started faster. Is there a routine to writing? This piqued my curiosity. Then go learn it! After all, loving what I love is a rare and beautiful thing. Although it's a bit expensive - mainly when you don't make any money, I heard that there are three opportunities to write a manuscript. Once the manuscript is passed, there will be income!
With this kind of self-righteous confidence, I embarked on the 21-day writing training camp. It is said to be 21 days of writing training, but it actually takes more than 40 days. Including 8 days of service after the course, the total is 50 days.
I think what everyone wants to know most is what can be gained in these 50 days? In fact, I can’t wait to talk about it.
Of course, the most important thing is to learn how to open a manuscript for a book. This is our ultimate goal in entering the camp! After all, when we practice it well, it can make us money as a side job!
In the 21 writing classes, each class was professionally and carefully designed, letting me know what to learn first, what to learn next, and how to proceed step by step. Moreover, after each class, homework will be assigned so that we can consolidate and improve the lessons we have learned. After each assignment is released, a tutor will comment and let me know where I can improve. This is much better than when we were in school. After all, every time we handed in our homework, we received either "√" or "×".
To be honest, those terms such as "walnut reading method, Cornell note-taking method, three-column note-taking method, mind map, idea writing" and so on are just some necessary tools to help us learn to write. skills, don’t be scared away by these seemingly “high” words. As long as we "pay attention to it tactically and despise it strategically".
Let me give you a sneak peek in advance. Lessons 8, 14, and 21 are the time for manuscript submission. You must seize these three submission opportunities. Never worry about whether you can write well. Think about it, if we take action, we will be at the level of a big boss and there will be nothing wrong with us. Why are we here? Aren’t time, energy, and money all wasted? Our goal is to do our best to write a manuscript and let the instructor give guidance. Only when we know the problems in our writing can we continue to improve, right?
Originally I thought I was pretty good at writing. What was so difficult about it? But through studying, I realized that I had so many shortcomings.
Did you see that? It is normal for manuscripts to be deficient. When I realized that there were still so many areas for improvement in my article, apart from a little resistance in my heart at the beginning, I felt more enlightened and like waking up from a dream! Because, more often than not, when we write articles, we do it for our own pleasure. No matter what others think or see. The detachable manuscript is written for others to read, and they don't know where they went wrong. Even if the manuscript is passed, wouldn't it make people laugh?
Learning Editor Liu’s 21 Days of Writing is not only useful for writing manuscripts, but also helpful for daily writing.
Secondly, the 21-session writing training camp allowed me to develop better reading and writing habits.
For example, I usually don’t pay attention to accumulating vocabulary, so I started to excerpt the golden sentences from the book! There are also famous quotes. In the past, when writing articles, I would always say: A famous person said..., but now I will add the name of the famous person - this is how convincing it is!
For example, after writing a point of view, you will habitually summarize it in one or two sentences. Because this is a link between the past and the next, and it is also a transition. At the same time, it will make people feel that what you write is logical and will not appear so abrupt.
For example, I learned to collect stories so that I can use them when writing articles.
For example, if you write any short article, you must have a theme, three points of view, and finally, a summary. Ha ha! A little crazy?
Even the plan I set for myself at the beginning of the year required me to read one book every week, and the average daily output should not be less than 800 words, although daily updates were not required.
Let me show you the results of my current persistence!
I never dared to think that in just three months, including New Year's Day and Spring Festival, I had read so many books and written so many words. I have almost two volumes of excerpts and notes, and countless pen refills have been used.
Everyone must have seen that this must be true love and deep love, that’s why you work so hard! In fact, what I want to say is that when you read a book you like, you will naturally have the urge to write it. Even if it is not a manuscript of the book, even if you just write some reflections and book reviews, at least it will have something to say.
For me, I gained knowledge through reading and at the same time mastered writing methods from Editor Liu. This is already a big gain.
Of course, there is also the real-life harvest that everyone is most concerned about - royalties.
I was very lucky. During the 21-day writing training camp, I submitted my manuscript three times and received a total of 450 yuan in manuscript fees. Although the money is not much, for a newbie like me, it is really not easy to get these!
Thinking about the feeling of submitting the manuscript for the first time, I thought that I had read the book thoroughly and wrote the manuscript with great care. I always thought: No matter what, I must be a B! So, I was the first to submit the manuscript with full confidence. However, the reality is: when the instructor looks at the problem from a high level, and we only look at the problem from one or some details, the results are different. Therefore, the first draft came out and I got a B-.
Recalling my mood when I submitted the manuscript for the second time, I couldn’t be happy when I saw that dazzling C. Then I looked at the instructor’s evaluation and found that I “didn’t understand the book”! Tears instantly filled my eyes. The grievance was just like the feeling of being angry at school and being scolded by your mother when you came home as a child. But despite all the grievances, we still have to face up to our own problems. Ask the instructor again for his or her evaluation. The instructor "Bamboo Forest Whisper" patiently explained to me and asked me to consider my own problems and think about how to improve.
With the experience of the last two times, I no longer dared to be careless the third time, so I chose a relatively thin book and started reading. The book selection was done, and I finished reading the book quickly. I refined the theme according to my own understanding, summarized the three main points, and quickly finished it in one go. Then continue to revise. Before revising, open the two manuscripts that the tutor has reviewed, keep the mistakes in mind, and ensure that you will not make the same mistakes this time. As for whether there are other mistakes, just wait for the tutor to sort them out! To be honest, I still had no idea before submitting the manuscript because I didn’t know if there were any problems that I hadn’t discovered yet. Until the morning when the manuscript was submitted, I really didn’t know where I needed to revise, so I thought, forget it, just submit it! Fortunately, I finally made progress this time and got an A-.
Later, when we were about to graduate, our tutors and teaching assistants let us join the community so that we could practice writing and get a feel for it. Here, because I left my footprints many times, I gradually accumulated 300 Youshu coins - which can be exchanged for all courses in Youshu! At the same time, I participated in a competition during the Chinese New Year and received a cash reward of 300 yuan.
These are full of gains. Of course, I also saw my own shortcomings, and I still need to improve a lot on my writing journey. Just yesterday, I was told that the last manuscript of the book was not finished. Sadness and loss are inevitable, but more importantly, work harder and never give up. Because it is easy to give up, but only by not giving up can you show that you have the potential to succeed.
That’s a lot to say, I wish you all a fruitful experience in the 21-day writing training camp and live up to your expectations!
May we love deeply once and meet a different version of ourselves!
