Misunderstood Dan Tao

Di Yuchao

The Book of Jin was compiled by a group of literati poets in the Tang Dynasty. The most famous editor is Shangguan Yi, the grandfather of Shangguan Waner, who wrote a beautiful "Shangguan style". The biographies in the Book of Jin are fresh and concise, with vivid details, which people can't put down. Volume 43 is Dan Tao, which is called Juyuan Mountain because of its negative influence.

For thousands of years, there have been misunderstandings about Dan Tao's purpose of deviating from the bamboo forest, taking refuge in Sima's family and recommending Ji Kang. In fact, Dan Tao has a lot of bitterness in his heart, but he just doesn't want to spit it out. Dan Tao wandered between Shan Ye and the temple. When he finally chose to become an official, he was already forty years old. The Book of Jin says: "Tao was lonely and poor in his early years, and there was not much measurement, but he was not a group." Being poor at home has little savings, so it is difficult to support his wife and children without making money. Happy bamboo forest looks chic and free. In fact, for people with lofty ideals, the existence without responsibility is also a torment to the soul. Earlier, the Buyi people once said to his wife Han, "Now, put up with hunger and cold. I will definitely be a fair husband in the future, but I don't know if you can be a wife. " The so-called "three publics" refer to Qiu, Situ and three leaders in charge of military affairs. From a joke, we can easily see Dan Tao's mind and ambition. Dan Tao later made the officials even.

Although Dan Tao is a knight with thousands of times, he has no concubines and never left his wife, and his feelings are as deep as ever; Although senior officials are respectful, they are cautious and frugal, and their salaries are scattered in the neighborhood. At that time, people called it "jade gold". Dan Tao is the oldest and largest official among the Seven Sages of Bamboo Forest. In power, Dan Tao recommended his friend Ji Kang as the official department minister. I didn't expect Ji Kang to write a letter "Breaking Up with Mountain Garden", which not only angrily rejected Dan Tao's kindness, but also broke up with Dan Tao. When this letter came out, public opinion exploded, and Dan Tao's embarrassment was palpable. However, Dan Tao did not blame Ji Kang, and he was not angry at all. He remained calm and silent all the time. Twenty years after Ji Kang was killed, he also recommended Ji Kang's son as Cheng. Not everyone has this kind of mind and tolerance, such as being misunderstood and not explaining, being wronged and not defending, and returning good for evil.

Actually, misunderstanding has nothing to do with communication. If we can't talk on an equal footing, to be fair, no amount of communication will be in vain.

Dan Tao is affectionate and righteous, and he is honest and upright. Chen County, a former county magistrate, was corrupt and perverted the law. He also gave 100 Jin of silk. Dan Tao didn't want to go against the trend of the times and offend people by refusing gifts, so he put them away and hid them in the attic. Later, Yuan Yi's corrupt behavior was exposed, and he confessed the facts of accepting bribes one by one. Anyone who accepts bribes must explain clearly to his superiors. The supervisors were deeply impressed by the fact that the silk Dan Tao took out of the attic was covered with copper coins and the seal was still intact. Dan Tao is very careful about things, including drinking. Dan Tao is good at drinking, until he gets as drunk as a fiddler, but every time he reaches the limit, he doesn't want to drink any more. After working in the imperial court for more than 30 years, Dan Tao repeatedly resigned due to illness, which was rejected by the emperor. In the early years of Taikang, he moved to the right servant to shoot and added Dr. Guanglu and Shi Zhong. Later, he worshipped Stuart, and Dan Tao was allowed to return to his hometown after complaining many times that he was seventy years old.

Dan Tao, a native of Juyuan, was born in Huai County, Hanoi (now Wuzhi West, Henan Province). He loves Laozi and Zhuangzi, is invisible and self-defeating, and is cautious, hiding his own sharpness, but he still has not escaped the fate of damaged reputation. This kind of damage is not the original intention of Ji Kang, a good friend, nor the fault of Dan Tao himself, but the misunderstanding and misreading of later generations. Dan Tao collected five volumes of books, but unfortunately it doesn't exist now. Thankfully, Dan Tao's calligraphy has been handed down from generation to generation. Its grass is flowing, flowing like a crane.

History is a mirror, from which you can see not the past, but the present.
