When learning landscape painting, you should start by painting trees. Once the trees are painted, half the battle is won.
The two trees we are studying are selected from "Returning to Hunting in the Snow Mountains" by Zhai Yuanshen in the Song Dynasty. They are withered pines in winter. If you draw these two plants well, the others won't be a problem for you. I use half-cooked rice paper. It is suitable to use half-cooked rice paper or cooked rice paper to imitate Song and Yuan paintings. Use Shengxuan in upper or lower freehand style. You can use Jianhao or Langhao.
Start drawing from top to bottom. If you practice some calligraphy on a regular basis, you will get twice the result with half the effort. The writing techniques are similar. The ancients said: calligraphy reaches the highest level of painting, and painting reaches the highest level of calligraphy. (Picture below)
Because I wrote it at night, the light was not very good, so I used software to process it. At first, you can use a pencil to gently find the position. The more you practice, the better. Use light dry ink to write the structure. It doesn’t have to be very specific. Leave some room for escape and deal with it later. (Picture below)
Pay attention to the pen used in calligraphy. Chinese painting is an art of dots and lines. Use short lines to give a sense of frustration. Large trees should be curved and small trees should be straight. The painting of this plant is roughly completed, and I have made appropriate corrections based on the original work. (Picture below)
If you draw it carefully, the branches should have a trend, and the angles between the branches should be basically the same. It's crooked but freshly built. Write it in one stroke, don't repeat it repeatedly. If the direction is right, what does it matter if progress is slow? Qi Baishi did not reform until he was seventy years old. (Picture below)
If one plant is too monotonous, draw another one. The second one is also written from top to bottom. Chinese painting is done by addition and cannot be erased, so I use light ink first and gradually deepen it. Try to get rid of your dependence on pencils. In the future, you can have a career with a writing brush on your ear. (Picture below)
It’s basically formed, pay attention to interspersing and confusing the enemy. Don't mess with yourself. So is a forest.
Gradually deepen, carefully clean up, and the dawn will appear. (Picture below)
Use light ink to blend, leaving the bright parts. Add more moss points to make it rich and finish.
Okay, let’s keep it simple. Chinese painting is a language system that has been repeatedly refined and symbolized by the ancients. This is conducive to getting rid of concreteness and expressing one’s feelings.
Do you have the desire to learn Chinese painting? You can definitely do it.
