Wu Yongliang (1937.11—) was born in Yin County, Zhejiang Province. In 1954, he entered the Fine Arts Department of Shanghai Xingzhi Art School. In 1957, he entered the Chinese Painting Department of the East China Branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and was taught by Pan Tianshou, Zhou Changgu, Li Zhenjian, Fang Zengxian and others. After graduating in 1962, he worked as a graphics designer at the Wenzhou Institute of Arts and Crafts in Zhejiang Province. In 1978, he returned to Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts to teach. He specializes in ink and freehand figure painting and finger painting. He is a representative Chinese painter today. He has pioneered and original academic achievements in the teaching and creation of freehand line drawing figure painting.
