Zhang Zhiping was born in 1959. The parents of a generation of children, Zhuang, started calligraphy and painting. Later, Ling Jinjiang, Dan Kelun and Ding personally taught calligraphy and painting in Ningbo.

He is also good at painting and calligraphy theory and appreciation, and has published many papers. 1994 was hired by China Asian Art Research Institute as a connoisseur of Chinese and foreign paintings and calligraphy. In 1980s, he participated in the compilation of Dictionary of Contemporary Calligraphers in China and Dictionary of Contemporary Painters in China. He has served as director of China Calligraphy Research Institute, member of China Calligraphers Association, member of China Artists Association (ICCA), director of American Chinese Artists Association, senior honorary academician of Singapore Xinhua Art Institute, artistic director of Hong Kong World Masters Association and visiting professor of Zhongyuan Painting and Calligraphy Research Institute.
