The era of cultural thoughts in Bamin area was in the Song Dynasty, when astronomers Su Song, Song Ci, the originator of world forensic medicine, Zhu Xi, historians Zheng Qiao and Yuan Shu, calligrapher Cai Xiang, famous poet Yang Yi, slow word master Liu Yong, and poetic critic Yan Yu appeared.
