Character introduction
Zhao Mengfu, born in Zi Ang, Han nationality, is also known as Songxue Taoist, Crystal Palace Taoist (when it comes to Shuijing Palace Taoist) and Gulbo. He once worked for Meng Fu in middle age. Xing Wu (now Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province) was originally from Lanxi, Wuzhou. From the late Southern Song Dynasty to the early Yuan Dynasty, he was an official, calligrapher, painter and writer, the 11th grandson of Zhao Kuangyin, Song Taizu.
Life story
Zhao Mengfu was intelligent since childhood, and he served as a steward of Zhenzhou to join the army at the end of Southern Song Dynasty. After the death of the Song Dynasty, he retired as an official, and he repeatedly ordered his life. It was not until the 23rd year of Yuan Dynasty (1286) that he was recommended by Cheng Jufu, an imperial adviser, that he rushed to Dadu to see Yuan Shizu and was awarded as a doctor of the Ministry of War.
Since then, he has successively held the posts of Ji Xian Zhi Bachelor, Jinan Road General Manager, Confucianism Promotion in Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces, Hanlin Attendant, and so on. He has been an official, Hanlin Bachelor, and Dr. Rong Lu. From sai-jo to Wuzong, Renzong and Yingzong dynasties, they were all respected. In his later years, he gradually retired, and for six years (1319), he begged for help from illness. In the second year of Zhizhi (1322), Zhao Mengfu died at the age of 69. Received Wei Guogong and posthumous title Wenmin, who was later called Zhao Wenmin.
Buddhist karma
Zhao Mengfu is a disciple of zhongfeng mingben, an eminent monk. Zhao Mengfu's last letter before his death was "Sore Post" to Zhongfeng Mingben, which was written half a month before his death. After Zhao Mengfu believed in Buddhism and converted to Zhongfeng Mingben, he regarded scripture writing as the accumulation of merits and created a valuable wealth for future generations. Zhao Mengfu's belief in Buddhism also had a great influence on his humble and modest style of painting and calligraphy.
Dress-up Event
Zhao Mengfu entered the Yuan Dynasty as a doctor of the Ministry of War on the recommendation of Cheng Jufu. Later, Cheng Jufu resigned as a Hanlin bachelor and returned home, and the court ordered Zhao Mengfu to take his place. After Zhao Mengfu took office, he went to pay his respects to Cheng Jufu first, and then went to the Imperial Academy to see things, which was told by the literati at that time.
Every family is good at calligraphy
Zhao Mengfu's two sons, Zhao Yong and Zhao Yi, are also famous for their calligraphy and painting, while his wife, Guan Daosheng, is clever and good at calligraphy and Ci, and her painting is good at ink bamboo, plum and orchid, with excellent brushwork. Yuan Renzong once took Guan Daosheng's calligraphy, and the calligraphy of Zhao Mengfu and his second son, Zhao Yong, was hardcover with jade axes, and the imperial seal was hidden in the secretary's prison. He said, "It is also a miracle to let future generations know that there is a couple and father who are good at books!"
