There are many stresses in calligraphy, such as running block letters, block letters, cursive scripts and so on. We often say that the word is as its name implies. A person who really studies calligraphy seriously will certainly write extremely pleasing calligraphy. Then someone asked the difference between elegance and vulgarity of calligraphy. I don't think this kind of question is desirable. The vulgarity of calligraphy is the foundation of elegance, and the elegance of calligraphy is the extension of vulgarity.
We can't arbitrarily judge what kind of calligraphy is elegant and what kind of calligraphy is tacky just from a calligraphy work. It is often said that there are a thousand Hamlets in the eyes of a thousand people. This is the uncertainty of art, and people need to know more about appreciation after artistic works are created. Everyone's appreciation level is different, and the appreciation angle is also different. Maybe you think tacky works are elegant in my eyes. Calligraphy, as an artistic product, also has such characteristics.
But now there are some people who think they are masters, or are packaged as masters by others, who write all kinds of messy calligraphy works in some unpredictable and funny ways to attract people's attention. I think this kind of calligraphy can be said to be tacky, because in the creation of such calligraphy works, it does not exist for creation, but for making money by attracting people's attention. Such calligraphy has no artistic value.
