There are two sources of Yu surname: ① Legend has it that Shun was sealed in the country before he proclaimed himself emperor (now in the east of Yucheng, Henan Province, and there is another saying that it is Zhou Pu Town, Yongji, Shanxi Province), which is called Yu. Later, the son of Feng Shun was named Yu, and later generations took the country as their surname. (2) In the early years of the Western Zhou Dynasty, the descendant of Shun was Guiman, while the descendant of Shun was Yu (now north of Pinglu County, Shaanxi Province), and later generations were also called Yu.
