Master Hongyi is Li Shutong (1880-1942), whose musical name is Wentao, his childhood name is Chengqi, his scientific name is Guanghou, his courtesy name is Xishuang, and his alias is Shu. Tube; after becoming a monk, his Buddhist name was Yanyin, and his nickname was Hongyi, and his late name was Wanqing Laoren. He was born in Hedong, Tianjin, and his ancestral home was Hongdong, Shanxi. He moved to Tianjin in the early Ming Dynasty. His biological mother was a peasant girl from Pinghu, Zhejiang. Therefore, Li Shutong later moved south to Shanghai to serve his mother. He always said that he was from Pinghu, Zhejiang, in memory of his late mother.
