The battle of Linfen, which went down in history, sacrificed thousands of outstanding sons and daughters of the party and the people. It was their blood that dyed the land of Linfen red and liberated the suffering Linfen people. In order to make the people of Linfen remember the great achievements of martyrs from generation to generation, Linfen Municipal People's Government built the Martyrs Cemetery in the north of Yaomiao Palace in the south of the city on 1958, and collected the remains of martyrs.
Since then, after years of repair and reconstruction, planting trees and flowers, it has become a graceful and elegant garden with scattered pavilions, pines and cypresses, beautiful scenery. In the north-south direction of the cemetery, the towering monument to the people's heroes stands in the center.
On the front of the monument, Marshal Zhu De inscribed "The revolutionary martyrs are immortal". The most glorious inscription on the left that died for the benefit of the people is the handwriting of Marshal Xu, commander-in-chief of Linfen's tough battle. On the right is the inscription of Comrade Wang Shiying, the governor of Shanxi Province in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, who heroically crowned the three armies, covered the sun all his life, fought against the Japanese aggressors, annihilated stubborn enemies and forged victory with blood; Liu Fen gathers beautiful scenery, pays attention to it, strives for peace and freedom, and heroes benefit the society; On the back, Comrade Tao Lujia, secretary of the provincial party committee, wrote an inscription, which brought a new sky to the martyrs' aspirations. Two rows of cedars around the Monument to the People's Heroes were planted by all members of Gu Wei in 1987; The 40 cedar trees in front of the Martyrs Cemetery were planted by Linfen Brigade of China People's Liberation Army to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Linfen's liberation. These pines and cypresses planted to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs, under the hard cultivation of the cemetery workers, thrive and are evergreen all year round, enriching the landscape of the cemetery and adding vitality to the cemetery.
On the Little Square behind the monument, there are five brick domed cemeteries for storing the remains of martyrs. There is a stone tablet in front of the tomb, engraved with the name of the martyr; On both sides of the tomb gate are engraved couplets written by famous calligraphers in the provincial capital. From west to east, they are: martyrs who have experienced the wind and rain in Sichuan in golden armor; I locked the clouds in the distant mountains in the cemetery. Send the spirit of the times, the red star shines on the world; Songs praising heroic achievements touched the cemetery. Heroes and heroes started a tough battle; Guanghua will always be in Niucheng.
